‘When I was 16 or 18 we used to go to these small clubs in Belgium. The highest ‘wave’ of New Wave was over, but we were still listening to that music in those dark little clubs’, says Belgian designer Kris Van Assche in the AW16 print issue of Something About. Inspired by the night time adventures of Dior Homme’s Creative Director, we shot the Parisian brand’s lauded AW16 collection in the small hours of the day; the morning after clubs have closed and parties are all but hazy memories.
‘Art drives so much of what we do at Cos. It shapes how we think, how we design, how we create’, says the Swedish brand’s Creative Director Karin Gustafsson. To this end, Cos is sponsoring a blockbuster exhibition tracing the decades strong artistic career of American painter Agnes Martin in partnership with New York’s venerable Guggenheim Museum.
After collaborations with Kim Jones and Olivier Rousteing, both of Parisian fashion houses Louis Vuitton and Balmain respectively, Oregon based sportswear alchemist Nike is launching The Nike VaporMax for COMME des GARÇONS.
In Something About AW16, our third print issue, we celebrate the enduring work of all-American designer Ralph Lauren and his handsome interpretation of all things British. Coinciding with the opening of the debut Polo Ralph Lauren flagship store in Europe on London’s Regent Street, stylist Beatriz S. Maués and photographer Will Grundy have taken the brand’s AW16 collection to the capital’s parklands, meadows and sleepy backstreets for Something About.
Les Benjamins’ Creative Director Bunyamin Aydin has taken the brand’s colourful AW16 collection to London, capturing Les Benjamins where it looks best – worn on the bustling streets. Les Benjamins is designed and produced in Istanbul’s bohemian Galata area, as such it combines both Western and Eastern influences to handsome impact. This is seen best in this season’s bomber jackets, worn with hooded sweaters and soft jersey Tshirts; under Bunyamin Aydin, these American sportswear classics are cut oversized in homage to traditional Eastern kaftans.
In our third print issue, Something About AW16, we explore the power of print by using PS by Paul Smith‘s vivid and contemporary Autumn/Winter 2016 […]
“There was a lot of debate with my studio team over which prints to choose but in the end it was very easy; each print means something to me and says so much about me, my interests and my collections over the last 10 years’. Ten years have passed since his London Fashion Week debut in 2006; time enough for Christopher Kane to firmly position his namesake brand as one of London’s most lauded houses. To celebrate, Kane has launched ’10 Capsule’, a look back at his greatest prints.
“What excites me about collaborating with TOMS is our shared belief in inspiring others and giving back. We’re coming together to make a difference in the world by what we do” Prapal Gurung says of his most recent extra-curricular project. It has been ten years since Blake Mycoskie first set out to build a fashion company based on a ‘One for One’ business model; a charitable concept that sees one pair of shoes given to a child in need for every pair of TOMS sold.
