There was another packed schedule for fashionistas attending the London Fashion Week 2015 with lots to do and see. There was the usual slew of household designer names staging catwalk shows for their latest collections and they once again proved popular for the live streaming of events to a worldwide audience in 190 countries. Among those who used the streaming service were Alexander McQueen, Zoe Jordan and Hunter. The live streaming service also offered celebrity interviews and daily highlights along with the first of London Fashion Week’s talk.
One of the big attractions for designers at London Fashion Week is the ability to unveil a collection to fashion lovers, buyers and media from around the world. Among those who unveiled their collections in the first few days were Bora Aksu from Turkey who had been inspired by his homeland for an inspirational outing for a slick show held at Somerset House. Bora had scarf tassles and table cloth lace mixed elegantly with white ‘ticking’ stripes along with shades of a yolk yellow and vibrant pink. The skirts were also ethnically inspired along with peasant dresses and blouses; fashion watchers praised a collection that had charm and had the feel of a sun filled holiday in Turkey.
Household name designers were out in strength for London fashion week 2014 with the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen staging impressive catwalk shows.
Indeed, there were more than 100 British designers attending the fashion event to showcase their latest collections including Amanda Wakeley, Vivienne Westwood, Burberry and Marios Schwab.
Among the designers grabbing the attention of fashion editors for the creations that stood out from the crowd included Simone Rocha, the daughter of John.
This was also the year that Julien Macdonald hit the headlines with a diamond embroidered wedding dress which was valued at more than £4 million. The British fashion designer staged a popular show featuring the great looking outfits as well as baby doll shift dresses.
The first show to take off at London Fashion Week 2015 were the German twin designers Felder Felder with their feminine rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic. The label is becoming increasingly popular with actresses and singers alike for the bold designs which suit the styles of the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Rhiannon, for instance. The first day also featured Fydor Golan who are always popular during fashion week with lots of bright colour blocking, childish references and playful imagery to make them a hit with fashion watchers everywhere. Other designers that featured over the coming days included Faustine Steinmetz and Holly Futon with shows that lots of fashion week regulars always look forward to.
The London Fashion Week 2015 was another year of success and pushing the event into new arenas – literally since the base has left Somerset House to Soho’s Brewer Street Car Park.
In addition, many of the capital’s big stores have pledged their support to fashion week by helping to promote it and hold promotions and special events in the stores and on their websites too.
It was not just stores that made the effort, more shows and interactivity took place in bars and restaurants as well as in hotels in the capital.
